An EIA is a process of identifying, assessing and reporting environmental impacts associated with a project/activity (e.g. what is the impact on the environment if we build this factory here).

Tools are developed in conjunction with clients and domain experts. The methodology includes a stepwise process:

(1) Consider beneficiaries and stakeholders,
(2) Identify required tools,
(3) Identify the categories/criteria,
(4) Craft “essence questions” with topic specialists,
(5) Develop draft tool,
(6) Test internally and refine,
(7) Workshop and refine, and
(8) Deploy.
