SALGA Western Cape and DWS join forces to support Institutional Realignment

The MPAP forms a critical part of the Five Year Reliable Water and Sanitation Services Delivery Implementation Plans, from which funded remedial projects will emanate. The Master Plan is a key requirement of the 2014-2019 Medium Term Strategic Framework, specifically Outcome 9, which states that a target of 90% reliable water and sanitation services be achieved by 2019.

Targeted municipalities included, Laingsburg Local Municipality, Oudtshoorn Local Municipality and Prince Albert Local Municipality. Working sessions were facilitated with both technical, elected officials and DWS National and Regional Officials as well as the Department of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) who attended the Oudtshoorn Local Municipality session.

The draft plans have been returned to the municipalities and these municipalities need to progressively implement the actions for improved Water and Sanitation service delivery to support achievement of 90% reliable services. Western Cape SALGA and DWS will seek to monitor the implementation of the plans go forward.
